A money-saving mum has discovered a series of discount supermarkets stocked with ultra-cheap groceries. 

Krystal has been hunting for the best deals to find ways to slash her grocery bills and has been frequenting little-known supermarkets.

The Gold Coast mum found one store where shoppers can nab an entire trolley full of items for just $25 and another she said has items ‘cheaper than Kmart’. 

‘There are a few of these stores popping up and you could be walking past and not even know what’s inside,’ she said in a series of online videos. 

Krystal visited a Lighthouse Care store, run by a not-for-profit organisation that provides emergency relief to families in need and where customers can save up to 70 per cent on groceries.

Savvy mum Krystal is on the hunt for Australia’s cheapest grocery store and has been sharing her findings. She’s discovered a store selling groceries for $25 a trolley-full 

‘This place sells a trolley-load of groceries for only $25. The trolleys are pre-packed by the staff so you don’t really have a choice but you can ask to have a look before you purchase,’ Krystal explained. 

Krystal said each trolley has bread, milk and a few vegetables as well as random stocked items including crumpets, ice creams, cheese and cake. 

Aside from the trolleys, there are aisles of bulk goods from cleaning products to toiletries, frozen food and ready-made meals. 

Deals on offer during Krystal’s visit included 2kg of Maggi gravy granules for $5, 32 Huggies nappies for $3, packs of Kelloggs K-Time Twists for $2 and Golden Circle juice cartons for $2.50.

Lighthouse Care offers home deliveries and click-and-collect and has two stores in Loganholme and Hillcrest in Brisbane’s southern suburbs. 

‘The store is open to the public, they do encourage people to come and purchase in store because that means they then can use those funds to help others that are in need,’ Krystal added. 

The savvy shopper also visited Choice The Discount Store which has 25 locations around Queensland and northern New South Wales and budget items in a range of categories.

‘Those dog toys are cheaper than Kmart.’

There was also a whole aisle of party decorations and costume as well as another with storage jars and organisers for as little at $2.99.

The thrifty mum impressed thousands with her bargain finds with many viewers hoping to find discount stores in their own home city. 

‘I never heard of it, but that is actually awesome,’ one woman said. 

‘This is fantastic, hopefully it can spread around Australia,’ a second added.  

‘There is also a place called silly sollys everything is $5 and under,’ a Sydney shopper suggested. 

Some pointed out much of the stock is near or past its use-by date but others weren’t bothered due to the extra low prices.

Save up to 50 per cent off the normal retail price on groceries, cold, frozen, toiletries and many more items. Some items maybe slightly damaged, deleted, past it’s best before date or close to, or a failed promotional line and are still in great quality.

Krystal said: ‘I would say this store is perfect for snacks and provides some everyday shopping, Cheese galore, yoghurts and deli meats, heaps of spices and jar sauces to make meals.’

3. Golden Circle Factory Outlet

An outlet store selling clearance stock of Golden Circle juices, canned goods and cordials as well as big name brands like Sulkin, Decor, Kelloggs and Old El Paso.

Krystal said: ‘It’s the size of a normal grocery store and has more than you would expect from a discount grocer. Products like Sulkin are as little as 3 for $5, they have hair ties and accessories and lunchboxes.’
